Paint Ball Vandalism

Authorities believe that a group of young people are the culprits behind a rash of vandalism that occurred Sunday night in the Buckeye area of the county on Poor Ridge and Wolf Trail.

The investigating officer, Garrard County Deputy Sheriff Tim Davis, said 16 houses were damaged with paint balls and six mailboxes. The final act was more serious in that three of the mailboxes were actually used to break out the windshield of a parked vehicle at an empty residence.

Although Davis had a couple of suspects in mind, interviews did not reveal any further details and the teenagers had good alibis, he said. “They appeared to be telling the truth.”

Although the paint will wash off the homes if the owners get to it immediately, Davis said, the other damage is more serious. If the vandals are caught, they will face charges for criminal mischief, second and third-degree.

Anyone with leads or information about possible suspects can contact the Garrard County Sheriff Office anonymously at 792-3591.
