Driver Seriously Injured In Crash

A Paint Lick teenager, 19-year-old Cody Brinegar, was taken to UK Medical Center in Lexington with multiple injuries Sunday afternoon following a one-vehicle accident.

Brinegar, who allegedly  had been drinking alcohol, lost control of his vehicle as he topped a hill on Herndon Lane in Berea, according to the investigating officer, Kentucky State Police Trooper Jon Parks. Brinegar hit an embankment on the opposite side of the road and then hit a tree head on. He apparently had been driving “too fast” for the road conditions.

He and his passenger, Jared Prather, suffered multiple injuries and were initially taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Berea. Brinegar was transported to the UK hospital shortly thereafter.

Brinegar faces an aggravated-DUI charge along with several traffic violations upon his recovery.
