Lancaster UMC Yard Sale
The Lancaster UMC will have a yard sale on Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th from 8-5 in the Fellowship Hall (enter at the back of the church) Adults and kids clothes (all sizes), household items, books and much more.
Madison County Civil War Roundtable
The bi-monthly meeting of the Madison County Civil War Roundtable will be on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Dinner Bell Restaurant just off I-75, Exit 76 in Berea, Kentucky. Civil War Author John David Preston will give a presentation entitled “The Battle of Middle Creek, Kentucky”. Reservations are necessary. Finishes and Flourishes Quilt Workshop
The Finishes and Flourishes Quilt Workshop will be held on May 16 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Broadway Building. Part II of introduction to quilting class will be led with Pat Jennings. There will be a Benefit Gospel Singing at the Harmon's Lick Church of God on May 16 at 7:00 PM. Elaine Collett from the Stinnet Gap Church of God will be performing. There will be refreshments after the singing and the church will accept a love offering that will be used for new windows in the church.

Open House At Woodlawn Center
Sunrise Children’s Service will host an open house at the Woodlawn Center, 1151 Perryville Road, Danville,KY, on May 17, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited to tour the campus, meet the staff, and learn how they can support the agency. Sunrise is a private provider of services to abused, neglected and at-risk youth and their families and relies heavily on donations from individuals and businesses. The Woodlawn Center houses two psychiatric residential treatment programs for young boys, a crisis stabilization unit, foster care, and IMPACT Plus case management and service coordination for Medicaid-eligible children. The faith-based agency serves children from across Kentucky. FREE. Refreshments will be served.

Paint Lick Alumni Association Class Reunion
Paint Lick Alumni Association Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Paint Lick Elementary School honoring class 1959, special recognition of classes 49, 39 and 29. Doors open at 5 p.m. - program starts at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. $ 12 per persons. Reservations due by Monday, May 18th. Caterer must have reservation number for planning. Paint Lick Sportsman Club Event Announcement
Perennial Swap and Hypertufa workshop - 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. on May 23rd. All members, guests and local gardening centers are invited to come trade, sell, and/or purchase garden plants or potting shed goodies (pots, trays, decorative items). At 10:00am, Merry (and helpers) will demonstrate how to mix and mold a stone-look trough or pot out of lightweight materials. It's called Hypertufa, and creates a very durable, lightweight cottage-garden container. Tennis Anyone?
Are you an intermediate to advanced adult tennis player looking to play mixed doubles without joining another league or country club? If so, come out and join us this summer on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6 pm at the Garrard County High School tennis courts.
We’ll play for about an hour and a half, and you don’t need a partner to join in the fun. It’s a great workout and a wonderful way to improve your game for only $5 (to cover cost of tennis balls). Registration ends Friday, May 22 with our first play on Tuesday, May 26.

Center For Rural Development Arts & Crafts Fair
A one-of-a-kind collection of hand-crafted arts and crafts will come to Somerset when artisans from Southern and Eastern Kentucky converge on The Center for Rural Development June 27-28 for the third-annual Kentucky Appalachian Craft Fair. The event will showcase original pieces of arts and crafts unique to the region and produced by the skillful hands of juried artists and crafters from 10 regional craft organizations comprising the Kentucky Appalachian Craft Council. Bus Service Offered To Lexington Monday - Friday
Bluegrass Community Action is offering service from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday taking riders from Danville to Lexington. Cost is $20. Passengers will receive a pass for the entire day and are eligible to make as many trips back and forth as they desire. Buses leave the bus garage 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. No reservations needed. Bus stops in Lexington are Greyhound Bus Station - New Circle Road, Blue Grass Airport and Lextran Transit Center. For more information call 859-236-5202.
“Cattle Crawl” Progressive Dinner
The Kentucky Beef Council (KBC) and the Fort Harrod Beef Festival have teamed up this year to bring you the “Fort Harrod Beef Festival Cattle Crawl” on Tuesday, June 2 from 5 to 11 p.m. The “Cattle Crawl” will feature four local restaurants in a progressive dinner and transportation will be provided from the Mercer County Extension Office. Feathered Friends Workshop
Kentucky’s woodlands and pastures are home to a diversified group of song birds and raptors. Unfortunately, over the last 40 years, many of these species have experienced consistent annual population declines. On Wednesday, June 3 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Paint Lick Sportsman’s Club (52 Hammock Alley, Paint Lick) learn how to implement a backyard stewardship project. This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to construct an Eastern bluebird nesting box AND a barn owl nesting box. There will be a Southern & Blue Grass Gospel Concert at Bethel Christian Church of Nicholasville, KY Saturday May 30th @ 6:00pm. This will be a benefit for 2.5 year old Reece Stewart who has Tuberous Sclerosis. Mark and Kim Stewart of Wilmore,KY are her parents. Mark is a Fire Fighter in Nicholasville, KY.
